I have been learning to juggle today, with little success.

I have been learning to juggle today, with little success.
Today I have finished the updates I have been wanting to do for a while. It became necessary to be able to filter the front page by category as my project 356 (now called anon² ) will be generating one post per day, so it is a bit tedious to be seeing all those posts if you only want to see my code snippets for example. The rss link at the bottom of each filtered page is also a filtered rss.
Also I have included in the comment section the ability to subscribe to subsequent comments via twitter. This should help bring people back to my site.

Today is the day to start my project365. The two characters I mentioned earlier are Angel and Jumper, two metal figurines from the German design company Troika. The names Angel and Jumper are the product names, and since I couldn't come up with anything better, for now I will stick with them.
After seeing many people on Flickr decide to do the 'take one shot every day' thing, and reflecting on the fact that I don't get as much use out of my camera gear as I would like, I decided to participate in a 365.
I was originally going to just do the generic 365, that is to take a photo of anything that interests me, and picking the best for the day. However when I saw the Stormtroopers 365 work I was very tempted to do a themed challenge of my own. I thought about defining the theme by a shooting style, but that would quickly bore me. Liking the idea of two small figurines from the stormtroopers set, that could easily be taken everywhere I go, I got to thinking about what figures I would need....

Today I had a photoshoot with Ludwig primarily for the header photo on his soon to be released second revision of the website for WebCreative, his company for freelance web development work. It was also for him to have some nice (hopefully) photos of himself....

After reading Trey Ratcliff's blog I was very keen to do some HDR photos. For those that don't know HDR stands for high dynamic range, meaning that (ideally) every element of the photo is exposed correctly. For an ordinary photograph the camera meters the scene and recommends the best settings for the exposure (automatic and priority modes). The problem is that for almost every photo there will be significant portions of the photo that are either in shadow or blown out. HDR minimizes this effect by taking many photos of the same scene and only including the parts of each photo that was exposed correctly....

I was able to have a tinker with my audio trigger which I constructed yesterday. Here is one of the results:

This morning I learned about high speed fp (focal plane sync). I had been frustrated at the limits of the shutter meaning that the highest sync speed I could reliably pull off was 1/200 (even though the camera is specified at 1/250 I almost always see that telltale shutter curtain).
Turns out you can make the flash extend its duration so it syncs at high speed (ie up to the maximum)
This got me interested in high speed photography again, by my previous endeavours have simply involved popping the flash manually, hoping to get the shot....

Yehaa, I have finally managed to get my site to a point that I can put it online. It is by no means finished, but I can now have a blog, which is a start.
In a moment of blind inspiration I decided to develop the backend of the site from scratch. In hindsight this was a dumb idea, as I had no clue as to how much effort it would take to get it even to this boring point.
Jobs I still have to do - get 'add picture to post' working, get rss working, start the portfolio section going….plus a million other things I haven't thought of....
